It’s amazing how one art piece can propel your creative juices into a new direction. The painting above was created out of practicing some art exercises, over and over again. I didn’t even name it until just now, lol. I painted AL-UMINU-MATI mostly with aluminum foil crumpled up into a ball and two brushes. A script liner brush, and a small rounded brush. I finished the Star with a superthin coat of resin.
Nonetheless, AL-UMINU-MATI help me create five other drip acrylic action paintings.
I even created this centrifuge spinny thingy to splatter the flow acrylic paints across the canvas.
I poured the paint on top of the centrifuge apparatus and the result was a circular splatter pattern.
Which I have now dubbed a SPLATTERN .
SPLATTERN: an artistic art pattern created by a paint splatter. I created a splattern & I think I may have coined a new phrase.
SPECIAL AGENT ORANGE & YELLOW JACKET were painted in three* stages.
I primed the canvases with white acrylic
Painted the background colors in with a color washing blendy style
Action painted the flowy black acrylic al la Jackson Pollock, using a Betty Crocker mixing spatula
*YELLOWJACKET has a super thin coat of resin that I applied w/a shower squeegee. This technique gave the background a brilliance effect.
SPIN SPIN SUGAR
“SPIN SPIN SUGAR”. For this 2️⃣❌4️⃣ foot beast, I used 3 flowy acrylic colors. Red White & Blue.
I poured the acrylic flow paints over the centrifuge to create the SPLATTERN. The natural color mixing created lavender, pink, & baby blues.
Added some water & Rain X in the center, to create a water color streaky effect. I also did some canvas rocking, back & forth to & fro 😂
Then spun the painting for about an hour on a lazy SUSAN. The spinning caused the watercolor streaks to expand across the canvas, giving the piece an added layer of depth.
I finished the art piece with a SPLATTERN of resin.
All of these paintings were inspired by the abstract art piece that didn’t even have a name before I started this blog. It has a name now. AL-UMINU-MATI
It’s never ceases to amaze me how one art piece creation can lead to many others…just by practicing art techniques when stuck in a creative funk.
Until next time my friends: U KNOW WHAT TO DO!
