Greetings y’all. I wanted to share a quick post about how I’ve been keeping busy with my artwork during the COVID 19 pandemic.
I’m sure many of you are taking advantage of your newly acquired extra time. Whether that means working out, creating art, playing music, making music, or spending time with the family, I’m sure most of you are making the best out of this time period. .
So here are a couple of new abstract acrylic paintings , and some recent art pieces as well. Enjoy. And THANK YOU for stopping by.
These two pieces are acrylic on Canvas. They are big boys, 3️⃣ x 4️⃣. Caribbean ocean “color washed” with distressed honeycomb accents.
After the acrylic dried, I coated the canvases with a thin coat of resin, to add lustre and brilliance. I used a squeegee to spread it out. I love the squeegeeing technique, as it leaves very little to no traces of the resin application.
FRESCOE’S TIP: A thin coat of resin dries a lot faster than a thick coat, allowing you to continue working on your masterpiece if you choose to do so..
I finished these masterpieces off with some action painting, channeling my inner Jackson Pollock
FRESCOE’S TIP: 🛑 KNOW WHEN TO STOP!
I used a loose and flowy acrylic black, and a Betty Crocker mixing spoon. I love that BC spoon. It’s quickly becoming a favorite tool in my painting arsenal.
I started my concept off small, putting my ideas down on these little 3 x 3” framed canvases. These would be my reference points, or guides along this Caribbean Ocean art journey.
I went to the Bahamas twice last year and absolutely fell in love with the colors of the ocean.
It’s amazing how things happen sometimes. I had these canvases in my work studio for over two years. As I started to paint one, I decided to paint all three and gift them away to my neighbors for their kids.
During this COVID-19 pandemic., I’ve discovered that my neighbors‘s kids have shown interest in art. #SilverLinings
Moving on… For good measure, I will shamelessly sprinkle in a couple more of my abstract masterpieces that I’ve created during this pandemic.
“7 LAYER DRIP”
Acrylic on canvas/centrifuge splattern effect. Very abstract & resin splattern finish as well. #ZOOMIN
“SPECIAL AGENT ORANGE”
“Special Agent Orange”was created using a color wash with different values of orange. Then finished with action painting techniques using a flowy acrylic black
Well guys, that’s all I have for now. I just wanted to share some of my abstract pieces that I’ve been creating during this COVID-19 pandemic.
