HAPPY MONDAY TO YA! SPRING IS ALMOST HERE!
What a better way to jump into March than with a new painting technique I created with a spinning gear apparatus I invented… #humblebrag
My latest masterpiece is a 2’ x 3’ action pour painting.
Keeping the palette simple for now, with a red, white and blue theme.

STAGE 1: I gave the canvas a color wash of white and blue with very light whispers of red. VERY LIGHT.
STAGE 2: I action poured the 3 colors separately over a spinning CD I taped onto a gear that spins manually. I physically kept the canvas spinning for over an hour. I did this in a clockwise manner for anyone keeping score lol.
STAGE 3: SPRAYED WATER TO THE PAINT ON THE CANVAS TO MAKE MORE FLUID, CREATING STREAKS. Then rocked the canvas in all kinds of directions for about 30 minutes.
STAGE 4: Once the acrylic dried, I applied a thin coat of clear resin to “finish” the painting. I used a bathroom spatula to spread the resin out across the canvas and onto the borders.
I let the resin cure naturally for 24 hours. I didn’t baby the curing process as I was not going for a perfect resin coating. I wanted the crater effect for this piece.
Until next time my friends:
