I was actually cleaning off my palette one night after finishing a painting and noticed a shell pattern emerging from the repitition of the scraping off of the paint. I decided to try this technique on a painting and even though it didn't come out the way I wanted it to at first, I was able to manifest the shell by manipulating it with the paint knife!
6 HIBISCUS "UPSIDE DOWN"
HAPPY SUNDAY FUNDAY! I've been wanting to paint a "Hibiscus" for a while now... Last time I tried, the flower turned itself into a Nautilus Shell ("Duplicitous Nautilus" in Canvas Gallery).
Todays's attempt manifested one flower into six...I realized at the very end of the painting, that the orientation of the painting "looked" better when I turned it 180°. I had been painting it "upside down" the whole time...I added the stems & tips and viola....FINISHED! What shall I title it...comments are welcome...PEACE!

HAPPY ACCIDENT
ACRYLIC ON CANVAS WITH A SOFT, DREAMY FINISH.
I WAS PREPPING A CANVAS AND I NOTICED A PATTERN OF A FLOWER EMERGING. I HAD ABSOLUTELY ZERO INTENTION OF PAINTING A FLOWER. I HAD NEVER EVEN PAINTED A FLOWER.
MY INTUITION TOLD ME TO "GO WITH IT", SO I DID. I DID IT ALL WITH ONE BRUSH. IT WAS A VERY SATISFYING EXPERIENCE. IT KICKED OFF A SERIES OF ABOUT 9 FLOWERS I PAINTED IN LESS THAN A WEEK.
THEN, THE "FLOWER POWER" ELUDED MY BRUSHES...JUST LIKE THAT. I COULDN'T PAINT A FLOWER TO SAVE MY LIFE. THEY CAME BACK TO ME ABOUT A MONTH LATER, UNEXPECTEDLY... AGAIN.
